Overview
Overview
Embark on an extraordinary 3-hour journey where adventure meets a once-in-a-lifetime celestial event. On August 12, 2026, Sólheimajökull Glacier will be transformed by a 99% partial solar eclipse, dimming the afternoon light into a silvery twilight and casting dramatic shadows across the ice. Against this surreal backdrop, you will hike across the glacier and soar on a thrilling zipline — experiencing Iceland’s raw beauty under the rare glow of an eclipse.
Every guest will receive five professional photographs, including one of yourself suspended on the zipline beneath the eclipse — a keepsake of an adventure that can never be repeated.
This experience is perfect for nature lovers, thrill-seekers, photographers, and anyone looking to witness Iceland and the cosmos in an unforgettable way.
Highlights
- 99% Partial Eclipse: Watch the light shift between 16:49–18:49, with the peak dimming at 17:50, when the glacier appears cloaked in silver.
- Glacier Hike: Trek across the crevassed surface of Sólheimajökull, guided safely with crampons and expert insight into its geology and history.
- Zipline Thrill: Glide across an icy moulin, with panoramic views of the glacier and the surreal twilight-like eclipse atmosphere.
- Professional Photos: Receive 5 high-quality photos per person, including an action shot of you ziplining under the eclipse.
- Small-Group Adventure: Max 12 participants, with a 1:6 guide-to-guest ratio.
Scientific Note: Unlike totality, this 99% eclipse will not bring complete darkness or reveal the solar corona. Instead, guests will experience an eerie twilight, with a thin crescent of sunlight remaining — making the glacier glow in strange, silvery tones.

- To ensure smooth operations and avoid last-minute cancellations, a 7-day refund window will be applied for all bookings related to the 2026 eclipse tour.
- This means that any refund requests must be made at least 7 days prior to the tour date. After this period, tickets will become non-refundable due to the special nature, planning requirements, and limited availability of this once-in-a-lifetime experience. This Glacier Zip Line + Hike involves roughly 2 hours of total hiking. The first half of the terrain is very flat yet rocky and is relatively easy for a person of average fitness. The second half is hiking on the glacier which goes up a gradual incline for about 40 minutes. The overall hike is rated as easy with some areas of moderate exercise.
- For safety and quality reasons, the zipline requires a minimum of 6 participants to operate. As a result, public group departures do not run daily. We do our best to group participants together on the same departure to ensure the activity can take place.
- Private departures, however, are available daily, all year round, and can be scheduled at your convenience.
- ´No-fly´ Zip Line tickets are for guests who wish to participate in the full tour experience, except go on the Zip Line. ´No-fly´ tickets will have the opportunity to watch their family, loved ones and friends on the Zip Line.
